Project No. 1

Due 1/29/13

PORTRAIT

Self Portrait Drawing
For this piece I first hand drew a self portrait of myself. I did that in graphite. I then scanned my drawing onto the computer and put it into photoshop. My intent was to try and color my drawing to make it look as realistic as possible. I looked at the original photograph while coloring in everything to make sure I got the correct color and shades for each part of my face, hair, and features. I choose to do a simple background to draw more attention to my face rather then everywhere on the piece. I tried using the smudge tool and fading tool to blend the colors together.
Abstract Portait
This was a digital photo taken of a person's shadow on a glass door. The shapes, reflections, and colors from inside the building come through onto the shadow of the person making it look more abstract. I think the colors reflecting from inside the building also make the photograph look more abstract and interesting.

Representational Portrait
This is a digital photo taken of my younger sister. In the photo my sister is showing great amounts of emotion and purposely looking directly into the camera. I made sure to put contrast and brightness on the photograph to make it look more appealing. I really like how the dark hair and eyes looks against the lightness of the rest of the piece.

Extra Portrait
This is a digital photo taken of a friend. My intent was to take the photo asa candid shot. I really like how the girl is the main subject as the photo and how I have the background blurred making sure she is the center of attention in the piece.

ENVIRONMENT

Environment Drawing
This is an environment drawing I did in photoshop. I used multiple brushes and layers to accomplish this piece.  I tried to put in as much detail I could into it. My intent was to make it as realistic as possible. I tried shading with the colors and I really like the shadows on the ground I drew into the piece.

Abstract Environmental
This is a digital photo taken of a stairwell inside a lighthouse at LBI. The stairs are spiral and have a lot of light shining through, which makes the photo look more abstract.
Representational Environment
This is a digital photo taken by a lake at The College of New Jersey. I manipulated the photo so the water looks more blue and vibrant. I wanted the water to be the first thing that stood out to viewers at first glance.
Extra Environment
This is a digital photo taken inside a building at Princeton University. The many curves inside the hall of the building make the photo seem more abstract. I manipulated the photo by adding contrast and brightness to it to make the photograph look more appealing to viewers.

ACTION
Action Drawing
This is an action drawing I  did in photoshop. The person is jumping and blurred to show that an action is occurring.  I used multiple types of brushes to make this piece, as well as shading with different tools too.

Abstract Action
This is a digital photo taken of a persons foot kicking snow. The snow gives off little pieces that make different shapes and dots. Because of this, the photo seems subtly abstract.

Representational Action
This is a digital photo taken of a person pouring soup into a pot. The photo shows an a clear action that one is able to easily see, making it a representational photograph. I manipulated this piece by adding some contrast to it to make it look more appealing to viewers and so that the soup would stand out more against the rest of the piece.

Extra Action
This is a digital photo taken of a girl throwing her hair and arms in the air. The blown hair shows a clear action being done. The flying hair and patterns on the shirt make the photograph seem a little abstract.
